Manchester United are continuing to monitor Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr, with uncertainty over the Senegal international’s long-term future potentially creating an opportunity in the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old has yet to commit to a contract extension offered by Palace, despite his representatives reportedly being satisfied with the proposed terms. His current agreement runs until 2029, leaving the London club in a strong negotiating position should interest develop.
Manchester United monitor Ismaila Sarr
Sarr has become an important part of Palace’s attack since joining the club. His pace, direct running and ability to score from wide areas have made him a significant threat, while he can also operate through the middle or on either flank.
He played a key role in Palace’s European success last season, further strengthening his appeal to Manchester United as they consider how to add greater flexibility and quality in the final third.
United have previously explored the possibility of signing the former Watford player and remain admirers of his abilities. Any move, however, would depend in part on Sarr’s decision over the new terms offered by Palace.
The winger attracted interest from Galatasaray during the summer after being keen to leave Selhurst Park, but Palace refused to sanction a departure. He has since been reintegrated into their first-team plans.
Palace are not the only club monitoring the situation. Newcastle United and Sunderland have also reportedly shown an interest, while sides in Turkey and Saudi Arabia could provide alternative destinations if Sarr decides to move on.
Manchester United could therefore face significant competition if they formalise their interest in January. Palace will be determined to retain an important player, and Sarr’s decision on the proposed extension may ultimately establish whether a move becomes realistic.
