Manchester United are facing a Luke Shaw injury concern after the defender was seen limping when leaving Old Trafford following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.
Shaw played almost the entire match and was replaced by Ayden Heaven in the 95th minute, with no obvious sign during the game that he had suffered a serious problem.
However, footage recorded outside the stadium appeared to show the 31-year-old walking uncomfortably and wincing as he passed supporters in the car park.
Luke Shaw injury concern remains unconfirmed
There has been no official confirmation that Shaw is injured, meaning the images do not establish whether he has suffered a setback.
The left-back was involved in one of the more physical incidents of the match late in the second half. Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was shown a straight red card following an altercation with Shaw.
Shaw remained on the pitch for more than 15 minutes after that incident, which may provide some encouragement to Manchester United and manager Michael Carrick.
United would nevertheless face another selection issue if Shaw were ruled out. Carrick has already spoken about managing the defender’s workload carefully this season, while the squad has limited obvious depth in his position.
The timing would be particularly difficult for a side that has taken six points from its opening six Premier League matches. United are due to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League before travelling to Leeds.
Shaw has established himself as an important senior presence in Carrick’s defence, and United will hope the limp was simply the result of a physically demanding match rather than a significant injury.
For now, the concern remains unconfirmed, with the next update from Carrick or the club’s medical staff expected to provide a clearer indication of Shaw’s condition.
