Mariska Hargitay has spoken out on social media about allegations of gang rape involving students at Cornell University, sharing messages calling for men accused of sexual violence to face serious consequences.
The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actor reposted a graphic which read: “Yes I think we actually *should* ruin the futures of adult men who drug and gang rape a woman, thanks for asking.”
Hargitay also shared a message urging men to contact police if they witnessed someone being gang raped. Another post claimed that 57 people were in a fraternity group chat where “Free p****y” was allegedly advertised, and that “NOT one of them stopped it.”
The allegations relate to a lawsuit brought by a former Cornell student, identified as Jane Doe. She claims she went to the Chi Phi fraternity house in 2024 after drinking at a local bar, was given ketamine and was gang-raped. The lawsuit names seven men.
One of the men named, Diego Sarabia, has already lost his job amid a criminal investigation. Another, Scott Kretzschmar, has strongly denied the allegations.
Hargitay’s intervention follows her long-standing work supporting survivors of sexual assault and rape. She founded the Joyful Heart Foundation in 2004, a charity supporting survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse.
She was not the only television actor to address the allegations. Hudson Williams, who stars in Heated Rivalry, said of those accused: “arrest them. f*** them and f*** cornell too.”
