Olivier Martinez has filed for a temporary restraining order against his former partner Halle Berry, alleging that she physically attacked their 12-year-old son, Maceo.
Martinez claims Berry jumped on the boy, placed her hands around his neck and choked him during an incident last Saturday. He says Maceo later called him and described the alleged attack, adding that he believes it was not an isolated incident.
According to the filing, Berry was at home with her boyfriend, Van Hunt, while Maceo was playing a virtual-reality game in his bedroom. Martinez alleges that Berry entered the room in an angry state and told their son he looked “so stupid” and was “such an idiot” for playing the game.
He claims the confrontation escalated when Berry allegedly climbed on top of Maceo and began fighting with him. Martinez says she grabbed the boy by the neck and choked him while shouting: “Who is dominant now?!”
The filing also alleges that Berry threatened to have Maceo deported to France. Martinez claims she asked the boy what he was going to do “as a black man” to protect her from being robbed by him, and referred to him as a “white bitch”.
Martinez says Berry sent him a text message the following day stating: “I feel terrible about what happened last night as I know he does as well.”
The allegations also refer to earlier incidents. Martinez claims Berry struck him in the face five years ago and, about a decade ago, threw a plate with a knife and fork on top during a violent outburst. He also alleges that, during a discussion about child support in 2023, she described him to Maceo as “a white bitch robbing money from a black woman”.
The order states that Berry must not drink alcohol or use other substances in Maceo’s presence. It also requires her to undergo sobriety testing before, during or after visits.
Martinez is seeking sole custody of their son and wants Berry ordered to stay away from both him and Maceo. He says he does not want to end their relationship, but believes the boy needs space following the alleged incident.
