A mother and daughter have been killed in a crash in Melbourne’s west after their Toyota Corolla was struck by a Porsche.
The collision happened at the intersection of Boardwalk Boulevard and Innessfail Drive in Point Cook at about 9.40pm on Wednesday.
Police said the driver of the Toyota, a 33-year-old woman, and her 67-year-old passenger died at the scene. The two victims were mother and daughter.
The road has a 60km/h speed limit, and investigators are examining how fast the Porsche Macan was travelling when the crash occurred.
Security footage shows the Porsche travelling along Boardwalk Boulevard shortly before emergency services were called.
Residents said they went to help after hearing the impact, but the injuries suffered by the women in the Toyota were too severe for them to be saved.
One witness said: “I heard a big, loud noise of an impact, and immediately I just ran outside and saw a Porsche colliding into an orange Toyota Corolla.”
“As soon as I saw the driver from the Porsche came outside and laid on his back. I called ambulance, fire and police,” the witness added.
The Porsche driver, a 53-year-old man from Point Cook, was taken to hospital with minor injuries and remained there on Thursday afternoon.
He was not under police guard and was assisting Victoria Police with their inquiries.
