Rande Gerber has returned to the Hollywood Hills home of his late son Presley, days after the 27-year-old’s death at a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica.
The 64-year-old businessman arrived on Friday in a black Range Rover and walked towards the property with his head lowered beneath a baseball cap. He wore a blue T-shirt, white shorts and blue trainers, and was accompanied by a male companion.
Cindy Crawford, 60, was not seen with him. Gerber is said to have spent about three hours at the landscaped residence.
The visit was his second to the house this week. Gerber and Crawford were previously seen leaving the property together on Monday, the day after Presley died following a suspected overdose.
Presley has since been cremated, according to a death certificate. The document described him as an entrepreneur who worked in mental health.
His ashes are reportedly expected to remain at the couple’s Malibu home, while relatives make arrangements for a small funeral. Forest Lawn and Malibu Presbyterian Church are understood to be among the locations being considered for a ceremony within a week.
An autopsy has been completed, but the cause of death remains pending while toxicology tests are carried out.
Investigation into Presley Gerber’s death
Presley was reportedly found in a bedroom at the rehabilitation property on 20 September, after checking into the facility the previous night. He had gone into cardiac arrest before emergency services were called.
Accounts attributed to people familiar with the investigation have alleged that his body was found near, rather than on, the bed. No precise location within the room has been disclosed.
Fentanyl is not currently understood to be a focus of the investigation, although any substances that may have contributed to Presley’s death will not be confirmed until the medical examiner’s toxicology report is released.
An emergency dispatch recording from the facility reportedly referred first to a cardiac arrest and was later updated to mention an overdose.
There have also been allegations that a doctor prescribed Presley ketamine despite knowing about his previous difficulties with the drug. The claims have not been established, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Presley had spoken publicly about his long-running struggles with drug addiction and mental health. Earlier this year, he described undergoing a high-dose ibogaine treatment at a clinic in Mexico, prompting messages of support from both parents and his sister, Kaia.
“You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud!” Crawford wrote in response to his post.
Gerber told his son: “I’m so proud of you and your courage. Facing what’s hard takes real strength and watching you find your way back to yourself is everything. I love you so much.”
Presley had also said he was taking time away from social media to look after his mental health. He later began sharing “Mental Health Mondays” videos, including discussions of medication for night terrors and panic attacks.
His family has been supported by close friends, including actress Laura Dern and George Clooney. Kaia, who recently spoke about the effect of her brother’s struggles on the family, had praised his decision to discuss his difficulties openly.
