A photograph showing RJ Mitte smiling at an airport in New Mexico has emerged from eight days before his death in Texas.
The picture was taken by Bethany Crass at Albuquerque airport on October 4. Mitte, dressed in a flannel shirt, T-shirt and cap, is shown posing with a stuffed Woody doll from Toy Story.
The actor had recently been on a hot-air balloon ride with his friend and former Breaking Bad co-star Luis Moncada. He was alone at the airport while waiting for his flight.
Mitte is said to have spent time at the airport bar, Burque Brew, where he had a few drinks before boarding. He was described as kind to fans and others who approached him.
At one point, he put his head down while speaking to someone on the phone. It is not known who he was talking to.
Mitte was found dead in Texas on Monday, around a week after the photograph was taken. It was later learned that he had died by suicide. He was 34.
Unresolved questions about Mitte’s personal life had also emerged before his death. Sources said his fiancée, Kennedy Suarez, wanted him to choose between her and his mother, Dyna, although it is unclear whether the couple had separated.
