The annual Swim Across America San Francisco open-water swim has raised more than $450,000 for cancer programmes at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals.
The event took place in San Francisco Bay on Saturday, September 12, bringing swimmers, volunteers and supporters together for the charity challenge.
The 1.5-mile course began at Little Marina Green before finishing at Aquatic Park. Participants could also support the event as kayakers or volunteers.
Funds raised through the swim support paediatric cancer research, treatment and survivorship programmes at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals in San Francisco and Oakland.
The San Francisco Bay Area event, which began in 2006, has now contributed more than $7 million to local UCSF programmes.
