Tottenham are reportedly among the leading contenders to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Younes Ebnoutalib, with manager Roberto De Zerbi considering attacking reinforcements for the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old has emerged as one of the most closely watched young forwards in German football after scoring eight goals and registering two assists in 10 appearances across all competitions this season.
Interest in Ebnoutalib has grown following his breakthrough campaign, with Juventus also understood to be a serious contender for his signature. Tottenham have monitored the player for several months and are now said to be increasingly keen on bringing him to north London.
Tottenham face competition for Younes Ebnoutalib
Ebnoutalib’s performances have also earned him recognition at international level. Germany manager Jurgen Klopp was reportedly impressed by the forward’s displays before giving him an opportunity with the national team.
De Zerbi could benefit from adding another centre-forward to his squad. Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush have not provided consistent goals, according to the report, increasing the appeal of a young attacker capable of adding competition in the final third.
Ebnoutalib is regarded as a forward with physical strength, pace and a reliable finish, while his potential has made him an attractive long-term investment for interested clubs.
A January move would not be straightforward. Frankfurt have secured the player’s services until 2031, leaving the Bundesliga club in a strong negotiating position, although discussions over improved terms have reportedly stalled following changes behind the scenes.
Frankfurt could seek between £20 million and £30 million for Ebnoutalib, which would represent a substantial profit on their initial investment. Tottenham may therefore look to move quickly in January rather than wait until the summer, particularly if the German club becomes more receptive to offers.
With Juventus also in contention, Spurs may need to act decisively if they are to secure one of Europe’s most promising young forwards.
