Manchester United and Chelsea are tracking Como defender Jacobo Ramon, but Real Madrid reportedly hold a significant advantage in the race for the 21-year-old ahead of next summer’s transfer window.
Both Premier League clubs are understood to have been impressed by Ramon’s progress in Italy. United are considering him as a possible long-term answer to their defensive concerns, while Chelsea continue to monitor promising young players with scope to develop.
Ramon left Real Madrid for Como in 2025 and has since become an important member of Cesc Fabregas’ squad. His technical ability, composure in possession and defensive qualities have helped attract attention from clubs in England and Spain.
He also scored against United in Como’s 4-1 Champions League victory, further raising his profile and strengthening the interest in his performances.
Real Madrid hold advantage in Jacobo Ramon transfer race
United and Chelsea could find it difficult to persuade Como to sell, however. Real Madrid included a buy-back clause in the agreement that took Ramon to the Italian club, reportedly allowing them to bring him back for approximately €9 million next summer.
The Spanish club are said to be prepared to activate the option if Ramon continues his development during the campaign. That arrangement leaves the two Premier League sides at a disadvantage, as neither is likely to have access to similarly favourable terms.
United and Chelsea may continue to follow the defender’s progress, but their prospects will depend largely on whether Real Madrid decide to exercise their buy-back rights.
Ramon’s future is therefore expected to become a major talking point when next summer’s transfer window opens, with the former Real Madrid academy player emerging as a highly regarded young defender in Europe.
