A University of Georgia student was seriously injured after falling from an eighth-floor apartment window at an off-campus housing complex in Athens, Georgia.
Athens-Clarke County Police said the unnamed woman had been dancing on a sofa on Saturday when she fell through an open window at Rambler Athens.
She landed in the courtyard and pool area of the apartment complex, which is popular with students.
Police said she was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was “conscious and alert but seriously injured.”
Management at Rambler Athens later contacted residents to remind them that the building’s windows are fitted with safety limiters.
“For your safety, please do not tamper with, remove or disengage these devices,” the message said. “If you have a concern with a window or safety limiter, please contact the management team for assistance.”
Management added: “Our thoughts are with the resident and their family, and we ask that everyone respect their privacy during this time.”
