A Sydney teacher has been denied bail over alleged child abuse material and covert recordings reportedly found on electronic devices at a home in Hornsby.
Richard Kenneth Harman, 61, was arrested on Tuesday after detectives went to the property following reports of child abuse material. Police allege one USB drive contained footage of females filmed secretly in public and at a school.
Officers continued searching the home while Harman was taken to hospital for assessment. Several recordings allegedly captured on the grounds of a school in Wahroonga, where he worked, were reportedly found during the search.
After being discharged on Thursday afternoon, Harman was charged with five counts of intentionally recording an intimate image without consent, as well as producing and possessing child abuse material.
Harman did not apply for bail, which was formally refused at Hornsby Local Court. He is due to appear before the court again on November 18.
