Nicola Thorp has announced that she is expecting her second child with her husband, actor Nikesh Patel.
The 37-year-old television presenter shared the news on Instagram, posing in a green figure-hugging dress with her growing bump on show. Their daughter was pictured kissing Thorp’s stomach during the photoshoot.
Thorp captioned the post: “Sparking pregnancy rumours…”
The announcement prompted congratulations from several television personalities, including former Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse, This Morning presenter Dermot O’Leary, Carol Vorderman and Kym Marsh.
Mabuse wrote: “Congratulations lovely,” while O’Leary responded with a love heart. Vorderman posted: “Mahoosive congratulations missus xxx,” and Marsh added: “Congrats lovely.”
Thorp is known to This Morning viewers as a regular commentator and guest presenter, having joined the programme as a contributor in 2020. She has also co-hosted TalkTV’s Talk Today.
Before moving into journalism and presenting, she played Nicola Rubinstein in Coronation Street. She appeared in the soap for two years after securing the role in 2017.
Thorp has also campaigned prominently on equal rights since making headlines in 2016, when she said she had been sacked from a receptionist job after refusing to wear high heels.
She and Patel took part in Celebrity Hunted in 2023. The couple welcomed their first child a year later.
At the time, Thorp shared a photograph of her daughter and wrote: “We are delighted to say that we recently welcomed our beautiful baby daughter into the world.
“Everything they say about birth being a rollercoaster of emotions is true. We’re shattered and smitten and everything in between.”
