Tom Brady swore live on air during FOX’s pre-game coverage on Sunday after making an error in a statistics quiz with fellow broadcaster Drew Brees.
The former quarterback was asked to identify the player with the third-highest number of career 300-yard passing games behind Brady and Brees. He confidently answered “Drew Brees!”, despite Brees already occupying the top position.
Brady immediately realised his mistake and said: “Oh, s***!” The exchange was heard clearly by the studio team, who laughed and teased him about the slip-up.
Michael Strahan reminded Brady that the programme was live, while Curt Menefee said they would forgive him as he continued to adjust to broadcasting. The correct answer was Peyton Manning.
It was the second time this season that Brady has used the same phrase on air. During the second week of the season, he said it while reacting to a replay showing Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels dislocating his left elbow against the Cowboys.
Brady later apologised for that incident, saying he had not expected to see such a gruesome image.
His next assignment will be covering the Detroit Lions’ game against the Minnesota Vikings.
