Two people are being sought after a 33-year-old man was stabbed several times and robbed of a chain in the Bronx, New York Police Department said.
The Bronx stabbing and robbery took place at about 1.44pm on Friday, October 2, near Rochambeau Avenue and East 208th Street. Police said the attackers approached the victim on a motorised bike before stabbing and slashing him and forcibly removing the chain from his neck.
The suspects then rode south along Rochambeau Avenue, according to investigators. Images of the two people have been released as the search continues.
The victim was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was reported to be in a stable condition. Subsequent reports identified him as an off-duty NYPD detective.
New York mayor Zohran Mamdani and police commissioner Jessica Tisch visited the detective and his family at the hospital on Friday, according to local reports. They also cancelled a scheduled briefing on city crime statistics to attend.
No arrests had been announced by Saturday, October 3, and the investigation remained ongoing.
