An unnamed woman who grew up with escaped Tennessee inmate Jacob Allen Morley has warned that he is “extremely dangerous” as the manhunt enters its third day.
The woman told NewsNation she was “absolutely horrified” to learn that Morley, a convicted murderer, had escaped from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, Tennessee.
Morley is said to have escaped on Sunday night after apparently slipping through multiple fences at the prison. Confirmed sightings have been reported in Tiptonville and Hornbeak, according to a map published by local outlet WKRN.
However, a truck belonging to Lindamood Planting Company, which Morley allegedly stole after escaping, was later found in Illinois.
Morley was convicted last year of killing Cody Birchfield. Birchfield’s friend, Diana Reid, said her main concern was public safety.
“I want people to recognise his face and understand what he is capable of,” Reid said in a statement to NewsNation. “Someone could unknowingly cross paths with him without realising the danger they may be in.”
Authorities have urged members of the public not to approach Morley if they see him, but to call 911 instead.
