Rangers have rejected an offer from Besiktas for midfielder Nico Raskin, with the Turkish club making its approach late on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old Belgian has been the subject of sustained transfer interest since impressing at the World Cup and has missed Rangers’ past two matches amid speculation over his future at Ibrox.
However, manager Derek McInnes has maintained that Raskin has remained fully committed in training and could return to the squad for Wednesday’s match against Falkirk.
“Nico’s been first-class since he came back from the World Cup, he’s been good as gold, he’s trained brilliantly,” McInnes said earlier this week.
“Obviously, there’s been a lot of chat about potential interest, and there’s been a lot of conversations had with the club and prospective buyers. But until an offer comes in that the club need to consider, Nico just has to knuckle down and train.”
Rangers have now turned down Besiktas’ proposal, although the Turkish transfer window remains open until Friday, leaving the possibility of further developments before the deadline.
McInnes said he had no doubts that Raskin would continue to contribute if he remained at the club after the window closed.
“I’ve no doubts that if the window closes and Nico’s still a Rangers player, he’ll give brilliant service as he’s done previously,” he said.
“He’s getting interest because he’s a good player. I want to work with good players. We just need to wait and see how things develop.”
