Amelia Dimoldenberg is bringing her YouTube interview series Chicken Shop Date to an end after more than 12 years, saying she is ready to move on to a “new adventure”.
The presenter announced the decision on Thursday, saying she had never expected to reach the point of closing the show, which began in 2014 and has featured more than 100 celebrity guests.
Chicken Shop Date established Dimoldenberg’s distinctive style of awkward, deadpan interviews conducted over fast food. The series, produced through her own company Dimz Inc, has grown from modest beginnings into one of YouTube’s best-known celebrity formats.
Guests have included Cher, Ed Sheeran, Jennifer Lawrence, Andrew Garfield and Paul McCartney. The show’s encounters with Garfield, in particular, became a recurring source of online attention because of their playful on-screen chemistry.
Dimoldenberg has recently indicated that she is looking beyond the chicken shop, with a BBC teen drama and a Hollywood romantic comedy among the projects in development. She is also known for her work as a red-carpet interviewer, including appearances at the Oscars.
