Philadelphia police are searching for three men accused of carrying out an armed robbery at Diaz Grocery, where two employees were assaulted and about $7,000 (£5,200) was stolen.
The incident took place at about 4pm on September 29 at the shop in the 1500 block of North 29th Street, in the Brewerytown area of the city. Police say two men entered with handguns while a third remained outside as a lookout.
Surveillance footage shows one suspect, believed to be aged between 17 and 20, drawing a pistol from his jacket and pointing it at a member of staff behind the counter. A second man, thought to be aged between 25 and 30, forced another employee into a rear stockroom.
The older suspect is accused of striking the employee in the face with the gun as they walked towards the stockroom. Both workers were then assaulted, with one man hit again and knocked to the floor.
The store owner suffered a large cut below his eye during the robbery, police said.
The suspects allegedly demanded access to a safe but were unable to open it. They instead ransacked the shop and fled with cash from a till, as well as one victim’s keys and mobile phone.
Police said the older suspect was wearing a KMSL hooded sweatshirt, a white face covering and a Sprayground backpack bearing the words “Can’t catch me”. The younger suspect was described as having ear-length twists or braids and carrying a black-and-white Spider-Man backpack.
Anyone who recognises either suspect, or has information about the robbery, is asked to contact Philadelphia police on 215-686-TIPS (8477).
