50 Cent has urged Verizon customers to switch providers after a blackout removed STARZ programming from the company’s Fios TV service, threatening access to shows including Power. The rapper and television executive criticised Verizon and chief executive Dan Schulman in an Instagram post, directing particular concern at viewers in New York and New Jersey. He warned fans that they could miss STARZ programmes including Power and its spin-offs, which are produced by his G-Unit Film & Television banner. The dispute follows the failure of negotiations between STARZ and Verizon over a new distribution agreement. STARZ said customers could also lose…
Police in Mississippi have sought to clarify a warning issued after the deaths of two University of Mississippi students, stressing that investigators have not established that kratom or any other substance caused either death. Aidan Hamilton, 18, and Robert Strang, 20, died in separate incidents in Oxford on 21 September. Packaged kratom-related products were found at both locations, prompting the Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Unit to advise the public to avoid kratom while the investigation continues. The warning led to concern that ordinary botanical kratom had been directly linked to the deaths. In a statement issued on Wednesday, however, the…
Israeli officials have alleged that the co-pilot accused of trying to crash a flight to Israel had undergone “Islamist radical indoctrination” before stabbing the captain and forcing the aircraft into a dive. The Omani national, who has not been named, was arrested in Saudi Arabia after off-duty pilots landed flydubai Flight 1073 at Tabuk. Passengers stormed the cockpit and restrained him, preventing what Israeli officials believe may have been an attempt to bring down the aircraft with 174 passengers and crew on board. Benjamin Netanyahu said investigators had found personal material indicating Islamist tendencies in the co-pilot’s background. Israeli officials…
Credit card debt consolidation may help borrowers manage high-interest balances, but approval depends on the route chosen and the applicant’s financial circumstances. Credit card balances in the US rose by $21 billion in the second quarter of 2026, reaching about $1.26 trillion, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Serious delinquencies also remain elevated, while average annual percentage rates of more than 22% continue to make it difficult for some borrowers to reduce what they owe. Consolidation brings several debts together, usually into a single payment. It can simplify repayment and may reduce the interest charged, although rates,…
A UK-Iranian man has been arrested over a suspected terror plot near RAF Fairford, with counter-terrorism police also questioning a second man and searching two properties in Westminster. The 27-year-old dual national was detained in London on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. A 26-year-old UK national was questioned under caution. Police said they were considering “all possible angles, including foreign state involvement” as the investigation continues. The arrests follow the detention of five men near the Gloucestershire airbase on Sunday. The men, all UK nationals from London and in their mid-20s, remain…
US lawmakers are racing to address concerns that the rapid expansion of AI data centres will push up household electricity bills, but Congress faces difficulty establishing how much of the cost should fall on residential ratepayers. The dispute has intensified ahead of the midterm elections, with competing proposals seeking to make large electricity users pay more for the grid infrastructure and power supplies they require. Republicans this week have been pressing the Ratepayer Protection Act, sponsored by Ohio senator Jon Husted. The measure would require state utilities to consider making “large-load” customers responsible for increased costs and passed the House…
Two trailers stolen from an autonomous trucking company in California were found abandoned after thieves discovered they contained 40,000 pounds of sand rather than valuable artificial intelligence equipment. The trailers were taken overnight from PlusAI’s warehouse in Fremont last week. One carried Nvidia branding, although the company’s vehicles were not transporting Nvidia chips. Employees noticed the trailers were missing the following morning. They were recovered later that day after a friend of PlusAI’s vice-president of legal spotted them parked outside an office in Newark and sent a photograph to the company. Police told PlusAI that the thieves had forced open…
Larry Nassar has been removed from Michigan’s sex offender registry after a state Supreme Court ruling led to about 20,000 people being taken off the list. The Michigan State Police removed offenders whose crimes took place before 1 July 2011, following the court’s decision that amendments made to the state’s Sex Offender Registration Act in 2021 could not be applied retrospectively to older incidents. A search for Nassar’s name now produces no result on the registry. His conduct occurred before 2011, although his convictions came later. Nassar was the US women’s gymnastics team doctor from 1996 to 2014 and a…
