Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan poked fun at Melbourne’s chilly spring weather as he joined supporters at a fan event following the club’s grand final celebrations.
Fagan admitted he had “didn’t have much of a voice left” after celebrations continued at the Pullman Hotel into the early hours of Sunday.
Many Brisbane players and supporters arrived at Brunswick Street Oval wearing dark sunglasses, as they faced the glare after a long night.
Speaking to the crowd, Fagan thanked fans for turning out early and praised his team before making light of the conditions, with temperatures still below 15C.
“Thanks for coming out this morning, it is a little bit on the fresh side for us soft people from Brisbane – you hardened people from Melbourne, you’re a little bit different,” he said.
The event formed part of the Brisbane Lions’ three-peat celebrations, with Fagan taking the stage despite the effects of the previous night’s festivities.
