Comedian Carrot Top has been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home with his family following a suicide attempt, according to a source.
The 61-year-old performer, whose real name is Scott Thompson, was hospitalised in Las Vegas last week. His representative confirmed at the time that he was receiving treatment and recovering, without discussing the circumstances surrounding his admission.
A source has since told People that Thompson is back home and doing well as he continues his recovery.
Several of his comedy performances at the Luxor in Las Vegas were cancelled during his hospitalisation. Carrot Top has performed at the hotel and casino for more than two decades, beginning his residency there in 2005.
The Luxor and MGM Resorts said they were relieved to hear that the comedian was recovering.
“Scott is a beloved member of the Luxor and MGM Resorts family, and we are relieved to hear that he is recovering,” the hotel told KLAS. “We are thinking of him and wish him strength as he receives the care and support he needs.”
