Adult performer Christian Styles died from alcohol and mitragynine toxicity, according to the Wayne County Medical Examiner in Michigan.
Mitragynine is the common active ingredient in kratom, a product sold without a prescription. The medical examiner’s findings also recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.168, as well as caffeine and several other drugs in Styles’ system.
Styles, 29, was found dead in a bedroom at his home after his parents went to check on him. They had reportedly been checking on him hourly, with his last known time alive recorded as 3pm.
The report said he had been on a bender involving various substances and had a history of heavy heroin and methamphetamine use. His parents told investigators he had abused drugs for 13 years and had previously experienced overdoses and other encounters with law enforcement.
No drugs were found at the scene, although an overdose was suspected.
Styles entered the adult entertainment industry in 2021 and subsequently became known for his work as a porn star.
