Samuel Monroe Jr’s cause of death was respiratory failure and coccidioidal meningitis, with sepsis pneumonia listed as a contributing factor, according to his death certificate. The actor, known for Menace II Society, was 52.
The document states that Monroe was buried at a cemetery in Los Angeles. It also records a coccidioidal meningitis infection alongside the respiratory failure.
Monroe’s mother, Joyce Patton, previously said he died last month. He had been hospitalised in April with a severe case of meningitis and MRSA pneumonia.
Patton asked fans on Facebook to pray for the family, particularly Monroe’s three children.
In addition to Menace II Society, Monroe appeared in Tales From The Hood, Set It Off, Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood and The Player’s Club.
Shawna Stewart, who said she was Monroe’s wife, held power of attorney and was responsible for his finances when he died. She is also named on the death certificate.
