Chet Hanks confronted comedian Eric Andre at ComplexCon in Los Angeles over the weekend, with footage showing the pair involved in a heated exchange.
Hanks posted the video on social media. It shows him approaching Andre and placing a hand on his shoulder before challenging him.
Andre initially appears pleased to see Hanks, but the interaction quickly turns tense. Hanks can be seen calling him out while Andre appears confused and asks what had prompted the confrontation.
Andre eventually walks away surrounded by security and shouts something referring to Hanks’s father, actor Tom Hanks. Hanks then remains behind, laughing with friends.
In the caption accompanying the footage, Hanks gave his account of the dispute. He said Andre claimed to have “NO MEMORY WHATSOEVER” of criticising him in the media, before raising Hanks’s former Jamaican accent and what Andre regarded as mockery of Caribbean culture.
The disagreement dates back to Hanks’s appearance on The Eric Andre Show. Andre later described Hanks’s conduct during filming as “dangerous” and said he had “broke” the crew.
Hanks previously rejected that account, saying he had simply matched the programme’s chaotic energy. He also accused Andre of being upset because Hanks had “outshined” him.
The latest encounter suggests the dispute between Chet Hanks and Eric Andre remains unresolved.
