Drake has denied a lawsuit alleging he stole the chorus of his track “Janice STFU”, with the rapper’s representatives dismissing the claim as an attempt to extract money and publicity.
Producer Aviel Calev Hirschfield, known as Avi, filed the legal action on Friday. He alleges that he recorded the hook in January 2026 and sent it to producers who worked with Drake.
According to the claim, Drake released the track in May featuring the same lyrics and melody. Avi says he supplied audio files containing timestamps to support his allegations, but was not given a credit or a share of the profits.
Drake’s representative rejected the accusations in strong terms, saying: “These allegations are categorically, unequivocally, and completely denied. There is not one iota of truth to these accusations.”
The representative described the lawsuit as a “manufactured and baseless attempt” to exploit Drake’s name and success for money and attention, and said the allegations had been made up.
Drake’s team added: “Drake wrote this song and has no connection or knowledge of this person full stop.”
