Anthony Gordon scored his first Barcelona goal as the Catalan side beat Getafe 3-0, while Djed Spence made his long-awaited Inter debut and Manuel Neuer came under scrutiny after Bayern Munich conceded the fastest goal in Bundesliga history.
Gordon struck after only two minutes at the Spotify Camp Nou, strengthening his reputation among Barcelona supporters since arriving from Newcastle in the summer. Hansi Flick said the winger had been contributing even before opening his account.
“He is doing great. He was also doing well in the previous matches when he did not score,” the Barcelona manager said. “He gives us a lot. He has speed, moves well with the ball, all the dribbling he has. He is always dangerous and creates chances.”
Lamine Yamal remains the club’s leading attraction, with Raphinha operating as the main attacking figure, but Gordon and fellow new signing Karim Adeyemi have helped ease the burden on Barcelona’s established stars.
Real Madrid also secured a 1-0 victory, with Yan Diomande scoring against Villarreal. The match was overshadowed by Vinicius Junior being sent off after appearing to pull Nathan Saliba’s hair as he tried to complete what he believed was a scoring move.
Rayo Vallecano’s fixture against Athletic Club was abandoned after supporters threw paper planes and rubber balls on to the pitch. The protest came amid an ongoing dispute with owner-president Raul Martin Presa over investment in the stadium, which had already been closed because of health and safety concerns.
Manuel Neuer mistakes prove costly for Bayern
Bayern Munich were stunned when Augsburg’s Robin Fellhauer dispossessed Neuer and scored after just eight seconds, the quickest goal in Bundesliga history. Vincent Kompany’s side recovered to draw 2-2, with Harry Kane assisting both goals, but Neuer was also blamed for Augsburg’s second.
The errors have intensified scrutiny of the 40-year-old goalkeeper. Neuer’s return to the Germany squad for the World Cup was unsuccessful, while Bayern deputy Jonas Urbig has recently made his international debut under Jurgen Klopp.
Bayern’s dropped points were made more frustrating by Borussia Dortmund’s failure to capitalise. Dortmund surrendered a two-goal lead against Werder Bremen before Niclas Fullkrug, their former striker, equalised in stoppage time.
Freiburg consequently moved to the top of the German table. RB Leipzig recorded a 6-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, while Patrik Schick scored for a fifth consecutive Bundesliga match for Bayer Leverkusen.
Spence introduced as Inter maintain perfect home result
Spence played the final 25 minutes of Inter’s comfortable 3-0 victory over Parma, making his first appearance for the club after only a week of training with the team.
Inter manager Cristian Chivu urged patience with the defender. “Let us enjoy his first 25 minutes, and not forget that he has only been training with the team for a week. You cannot ask too much of him or you will push him into the red,” he said.
Harry Winks helped Cagliari draw 1-1 with Juventus, while Scott McTominay returned from minor heart surgery as a substitute in Napoli’s 3-0 win over Frosinone. Kevin De Bruyne scored twice for Napoli.
Lazio remain Inter’s closest challengers in Serie A after beating Monza 3-1. Nuno Tavares, the former Arsenal defender, scored a spectacular goal as Lazio recorded five wins and a draw from their opening six matches, their best start to a Serie A season.
PSG begin to gather momentum in France
Monaco surrendered a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw with Toulouse, allowing Paris Saint-Germain to close the gap after a 3-1 win over Le Mans.
PSG have climbed to sixth in Ligue 1 following a slow start. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia came off the bench to score the decisive goal, while Cameron Archer scored for the fourth successive match despite Auxerre losing.
In Norway, Viking and Bodo/Glimt remain level on 53 points after 22 matches, with identical records including goals scored and goal difference. Viking lead on head-to-head record after beating Bodo/Glimt 5-0 in April, although the two sides still have eight matches remaining.
