James Koncinsky Jenkins was arrested in Georgia after allegedly posing as an Amazon delivery driver to break into parked cars, with police saying he also had outstanding felony warrants in other jurisdictions.
A man has been arrested in Sandy Springs, Georgia, accused of disguising himself as a delivery driver in order to break into parked cars, according to local police.
Officers were called to the 1100 block of Hammond Drive on Sunday after a woman reported spotting a man entering her vehicle, having noticed the intrusion via her car’s built-in camera system. Police later located a man matching her description nearby and took him into custody.
The suspect initially gave officers a false name, but was subsequently identified as James Koncinsky Jenkins. A check of records found he was wanted on several outstanding felony warrants in other jurisdictions.
Body camera footage released by the Sandy Springs Police Department shows Jenkins wearing a vest resembling those worn by Amazon delivery drivers. However, investigators confirmed that he was not employed by the company and that the vest had no connection to any genuine job.
Jenkins was arrested and handed over to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. In a Facebook post about the case, the Sandy Springs Police Department urged residents to report anything suspicious straight away, noting that “quick reporting helps officers respond promptly” and can lead to arrests such as this one.
