Frisco’s $40 million Northwest Community Park is due to open on Saturday, September 19, bringing a new 120-acre outdoor destination to the rapidly growing Texas city.
The grand opening celebration will run from 8am to 10am at the park on Teel Parkway, north of Panther Creek Parkway and close to the PGA of America headquarters. The programme will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a fun run, a bike ride, refreshments and free activities for visitors.
Designed around the area’s Blackland Prairie, the park features miles of walking, running and cycling trails, alongside playgrounds, splash pads, plazas and gardens. Restored prairie and woodland areas will also provide habitat for wildlife and space for visitors to explore the local landscape.
Additional facilities include a dog park, public art, picnic areas, pavilions, an observation deck and cycling areas intended for riders of different abilities. The city has also highlighted interactive and educational features aimed at helping visitors learn about the region’s distinctive prairie ecosystem.
Construction began in January 2025. A report by Community Impact said the project had been designed as a nature-focused destination rather than a traditional sports complex, with bike facilities including beginner-friendly areas, pump tracks and off-road trails.
Northwest Community Park will be open throughout the day after the official celebration. The City of Frisco says the site is intended to serve both local residents and visitors from across the wider region.
