Zach Hickerson has spoken out after his arrest following a bar fight in South Carolina, claiming online rumours about Hayden Panettiere are fuelling attacks on him and his brother, Brian Hickerson.
Zach was released from jail in Greenville and said he was frustrated by misinformation being circulated online. He declined to give details about what happened during the confrontation but criticised people for acting on unverified claims.
“It’s just super frustrating all that we’ve been through and all the rumors that get started and then people believe them and then they attack as a result of the rumors,” he said. “That’s what pisses me off.”
He also complained that information posted online led people to make assumptions about events before attacking those involved. Zach did not specify which claims he believed were inaccurate, but suggested he would eventually give his account.
The altercation reportedly took place at Wild Wing Cafe, where an eyewitness said the brothers had been heckled over rumours concerning Panettiere. Footage showed Brian throwing a bar stool during the incident before police detained both men.
Brian was released without being arrested, while Zach was booked on a disorderly conduct charge. Zach did not address the precise circumstances of the fight when questioned after his release.
“I’ll clarify eventually,” he said, adding that he was focused on finding his car and returning to his life. He also declined to answer when asked how Brian was coping.
