Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Bayern Munich teenager Lennart Karl, with Arsenal and Manchester United also making enquiries about the highly rated German attacking midfielder.
The 18-year-old is said to be valued at around €60 million and has attracted attention after an impressive breakthrough campaign in Munich. Representatives of the three Premier League clubs are understood to have sought information about his situation.
Liverpool face competition for Lennart Karl
Karl made 34 appearances last season, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists. His performances earned him recognition at senior international level and established him as one of Germany’s most promising young players.
His involvement has been more limited this season, however, as competition for attacking places has increased under Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany. The arrival of Ismael Saibari has added to the uncertainty surrounding Karl’s opportunities and his longer-term development at the Bundesliga club.
Liverpool are considering potential attacking reinforcements for the forthcoming transfer windows, with Karl’s creativity, close control and versatility making him a possible fit for Arne Slot’s squad.
Bayern have no immediate intention of allowing the teenager to leave and remain determined to keep him. Karl is under contract until 2029, leaving the German champions in a strong negotiating position should any of the Premier League clubs make a formal approach.
The youngster has also faced public criticism from Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeness, who said he needed to remain humble and focus on his development. Christian Falk has nevertheless indicated that senior figures at the club continue to have confidence in Karl’s potential.
Much could depend on the midfielder’s playing time and how his relationship with Bayern develops over the coming months. With Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United all monitoring developments, Karl’s future could become a significant transfer issue ahead of 2027.
