Liverpool are demanding at least €70 million for Alexis Mac Allister as Real Madrid assess a possible move for the Argentine midfielder in January.
The Spanish club have reportedly been told that Liverpool will not consider offers below their valuation of the 27-year-old, with talks potentially beginning in December ahead of a formal proposal early next year.
Real Madrid interest in Alexis Mac Allister
Mac Allister has emerged as one of Jose Mourinho’s preferred targets as Real Madrid look to strengthen their midfield options. His technical quality, creativity and tactical versatility are understood to be among the qualities attracting the Spanish side.
Liverpool are believed to be prepared to use any proceeds from a potential sale to help fund their own midfield rebuild. Although Mac Allister’s estimated transfer value is around €61.9 million, the Merseyside club are holding out for a significantly higher fee.
That position could make negotiations difficult for Real Madrid, who would need to commit substantial funds to bring the World Cup winner to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mac Allister’s Liverpool contract
The midfielder’s contractual situation could add another layer to the discussions. His current agreement with Liverpool runs until June 2028, but the club have not yet offered him an extension.
Mac Allister has previously expressed disappointment at the lack of progress over a new deal, particularly after team-mates Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai received improved terms.
Real Madrid could regard that uncertainty as an opportunity as they seek a long-term midfield solution following the departures of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
Mac Allister’s ability to dictate play, retain possession and contribute defensively is understood to have strengthened his appeal. However, Liverpool’s firm stance means Real Madrid will have to meet the €70 million asking price to have a realistic chance of completing the deal.
