Liverpool are monitoring Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott but are also considering Monaco’s Lamine Camara and Roma’s Manu Kone as alternative January targets, according to transfer reporter Ben Jacobs.
Chelsea are understood to be leading the race for Scott, with Jacobs reporting that the London club are increasingly confident of securing his signature. Bournemouth are seeking more than £100 million for the midfielder.
Scott is Chelsea’s main target following Enzo Fernandez’s move to Manchester City on deadline day over the summer, while the club are already in fresh talks over a potential deal.
Liverpool’s interest in Scott is reportedly less urgent, however, with Jacobs indicating that strengthening in midfield is not currently viewed as a priority for the Reds.
Liverpool consider midfield alternatives
Camara has emerged as another option after Chelsea failed to sign the Monaco midfielder on deadline day. Kone, who plays for Roma, is also said to be on Liverpool’s list.
Scott could have offered Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola a reunion with his former player. The midfielder has impressed at Bournemouth and is familiar with the demands of Iraola’s system.
Liverpool already possess a strong midfield, although there could be a need to replace Alexis Mac Allister, whose future has reportedly been uncertain for some time.
There is also a case for adding competition for Ryan Gravenberch, who has generally performed well but has struggled for consistency. Camara and Kone could provide alternative options without the Premier League premium attached to a deal for Scott.
