Meghan Markle’s As Ever brand has launched an advent calendar featuring an illustration of her Montecito mansion, priced at £112.
The product, made in collaboration with Los Angeles gourmet confectioner Compartés, contains 24 chocolates decorated with what the brand describes as Meghan’s own flower sprinkles.
The calendar’s cover depicts the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s 18,000-square-foot California home, which has been valued at £11 million. There has been no firm indication that the couple plans to sell the property.
As Ever is marketing the product as a “Holiday Advent Calendar”, rather than a Christmas calendar, describing it as a way to celebrate the “season”. Each chocolate is numbered in what the brand says is Meghan’s “personal penmanship”, hand-painted in edible gold lustre.
The choice of the mansion’s façade has drawn criticism, given the couple’s long-standing efforts to keep details of their private life in California out of public view. Meghan has previously shared only closely cropped images of the property and reportedly hired a separate house while filming her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
The calendar has also prompted comparisons with more recognisable landmarks. Buckingham Palace recently released its own advent calendar, priced at £12, while the Statue of Liberty is another example of a famous site being used on souvenir merchandise.
Reverend Daniel French, an Anglican priest and London University chaplain, posted about Meghan’s product and suggested that shoppers could instead buy a £6 Christian advent calendar containing Fairtrade chocolate and supporting a leprosy charity.
Following criticism from members of the so-called Sussex Squad, who branded him “evil” and “Satan’s spawn”, the priest was forced to lock down his X account.
As Ever has also been publishing festive hosting advice on Instagram. One post, titled “Meghan’s Hosting Notes”, recommends leaving “one simple task for the end” so that it can be completed in the kitchen while guests settle in, adding that “a little preparation goes a long way toward making hosting feel effortless”.
The brand’s latest release follows Meghan’s wider move into lifestyle products, with the advent calendar representing one of As Ever’s most prominent seasonal offerings. The product contains 24 chocolates, rather than one for Christmas Day, and is being sold as a premium gift item.
