A milk truck driver was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after his tractor-trailer crashed into an unoccupied pickup on Interstate 75 in Pasco County, Florida, on Sunday morning.
The collision happened at about 6.10am near mile marker 284, close to Wesley Chapel. The 59-year-old man from Temple Terrace was travelling north when he lost control of the vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The lorry struck the pickup, which was parked on the outside shoulder. The force of the impact caused the milk tanker to overturn, with part of the vehicle coming to rest in a wooded area beside the motorway.
Emergency crews took the driver by air ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition was described as serious.
Authorities have not said what caused the driver to lose control. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
