Minnesota’s weather forecast points to a bright and mild Wednesday, September 23, with sunshine across the east of the state before clouds build and rain returns later in the week.
Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 60s Fahrenheit (around 18 to 20C) in many areas. The Twin Cities should reach about 68F (20C), with light south-easterly winds of between 5 and 15mph.
Western Minnesota will be cloudier than the east, while Wednesday night is expected to remain quiet as cloud cover increases. Overnight temperatures will fall into the 50s Fahrenheit.
Rain expected to return to Minnesota on Thursday
A weather system moving into Minnesota late Wednesday night will bring scattered showers, particularly across western parts of the state.
The rain is expected to weaken as it tracks eastwards. The National Weather Service puts the chance of showers around Minneapolis at 40 per cent on Thursday, mainly before early afternoon, with a high of about 64F (18C).
Much of Thursday is likely to be cloudy and damp, although the Twin Cities may see only isolated light showers or drizzle later in the day.
Friday should remain fairly cloudy, with temperatures rising into the upper 60s Fahrenheit and occasional brighter spells.
The weekend is expected to begin on a more unsettled note. Saturday could bring widespread showers, with thunderstorms also possible and an 80 per cent chance of rain in the Minneapolis area. Winds may reach around 15mph, with stronger gusts possible.
Conditions should improve on Sunday, when temperatures are forecast to climb to about 71F (22C). Monday is expected to be mild and partly sunny, with highs near 72F (22C), although another spell of showers could arrive on Tuesday.
