Minnesota is set for a largely grey Thursday on 24 September, with afternoon showers spreading east and the heaviest rain expected in western parts of the state. The Twin Cities, including Minneapolis and St Paul, could see light rain or drizzle as the weather system weakens.
Morning sunshine is expected to give way to thicker cloud, with showers most likely during the afternoon. The National Weather Service puts the chance of rain in Minneapolis at about 40 per cent, with a high of roughly 64F (18C). Western Minnesota is likely to receive the most widespread rainfall, while eastern areas may retain a few brighter spells. Southerly winds will remain light at between 5 and 15mph, before showers gradually ease on Thursday night.
Cloud will linger overnight, with temperatures falling only to the upper 50s Fahrenheit, or around 15C, in the Twin Cities. Further rain possible across Minnesota
Friday should be quieter and seasonable, although skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy with occasional breaks of sunshine. Rain may return late on Friday night and continue into Saturday, with western Minnesota again facing the greatest risk of more widespread showers.
The Twin Cities could see a few showers on Saturday, but cloudy conditions are considered more likely. The National Weather Service forecasts a 60 per cent chance of showers in Minneapolis, mainly from the afternoon onwards.
