Newcastle United have stepped up their pursuit of Wisla Krakow left-back Jakub Krzyzanowski after reportedly sending scouts to watch the 20-year-old during the match against Rakow Czestochowa.
The Polish defender has emerged as a potential January target as Newcastle assess options to strengthen their defence. A report by TEAMtalk claims the club is closely monitoring his progress.
Newcastle pursuit of Jakub Krzyzanowski intensifies
Krzyzanowski came through Wisla Krakow’s academy and has established himself as a regular in the first team. He has played every league minute this season, while his work on the left flank has also attracted attention for its attacking contribution.
Newcastle already have Lewis Hall as an important option at left-back, but the club are understood to be considering the addition of a younger player to provide greater depth and support their longer-term plans.
They face competition for Krzyzanowski, with Augsburg having previously made an offer for the Poland Under-21 international. Other European clubs are also reported to have shown an interest.
Wisla rejected Augsburg’s approach during the summer before extending Krzyzanowski’s contract until June 2030. That deal leaves the Polish club in a strong negotiating position should Newcastle make a formal move.
Newcastle are considering an agreement in January that would allow Krzyzanowski to remain with Wisla until the end of the season before joining the Premier League club. An immediate transfer could also be explored if suitable terms are agreed.
The Magpies are expected to continue monitoring the defender, although the interest from elsewhere could make negotiations more difficult.
