Tennessee state senator Brent Taylor has acknowledged sending nudes in the past after multiple people reportedly told the Nashville Scene they had received sexts from him, despite his description of the behaviour as “youthful indiscretions”.
Taylor, 58, is a married Republican lawmaker running for Congress. One unnamed source told the publication he had received a nude image from Taylor in 2021, when the senator was 53. The claim was reportedly backed by a second eyewitness.
Responding to the allegations, Taylor said: “As I near 60 years old, the expiration date has come and gone on any of my youthful indiscretions. Whatever story you think you’ve got, my wife is well aware of and we’ve worked through it a long time ago. My God and my wife have forgiven me, and I would consider everyone else doing the same.”
He later added: “All I can tell you is, in the past, I’ve been guilty of being a rounder, back in the day.”
The term “rounder” is old-fashioned slang for a player or someone who partied frequently.
Taylor has discussed the claims with several outlets, including AP News. He said the “frustrating part” was that his wife had to relive his past indiscretion again.
