Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, with PSG reportedly preparing an offer worth around €80 million and Chelsea considering a significant bid.
Barcelona would prefer to keep the Spain international, but their financial difficulties could force them to consider a major proposal. A source with links to the agents’ industry said PSG were preparing a “serious offer” for Lopez, while Chelsea were also weighing a substantial approach.
Lopez’s own position remains unclear. He previously rejected interest from Chelsea, although Barcelona’s stance may now encourage him to consider his options if the club decides to cash in.
Chelsea made a significant offer for the midfielder in the summer of 2025 and indicated they could return if his circumstances changed. The player had previously been settled at Barcelona and confident of his role, but competition for places in Hansi Flick’s squad could affect his decision.
Both Chelsea and PSG could offer Lopez the prospect of more regular first-team football. Arsenal and Manchester United have also made checks on his situation in recent months, although the two clubs from west London and Paris are understood to have the most concrete interest at present.
Fermin Lopez transfer interest could develop in January
Any move remains speculative at this stage, given the likely size of the fee and the need for Lopez to agree to a transfer. However, the situation could become a serious story during the January window or next summer.
Chelsea may also reassess their attacking options, with Cole Palmer having struggled for form recently and Estevao Willian increasingly out of favour under Xabi Alonso. Their more immediate winter priority is understood to be Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, but Lopez could become a stronger target if that business is completed early.
