One man has died after a shooting in north-east Austin, Texas, with police detaining a person nearby while the investigation continues.
Austin Police Department officers were called to the 11,000 block of Timber Heights Drive on the evening of Saturday, August 29, after receiving several 911 reports that someone had been shot.
The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was described by police as an adult male.
Residents in the area received a reverse 911 alert warning them of an active investigation and telling them officers were searching for someone connected to the incident.
Police later located a person in a nearby area and took them into custody. However, officers have not confirmed whether that individual is the shooting suspect.
Austin Police Department officer Aaron Townsend provided the details at a news conference on August 29. No further information about the circumstances of the shooting or any possible motive has been released.
