An overturned tractor-trailer blocked lanes on the outer loop of I-495 near Connecticut Avenue in Montgomery County, Maryland, causing major delays for Friday morning commuters.
The Montgomery County Department of Police issued a traffic advisory shortly before 6am on October 16, warning drivers of significant disruption on the Capital Beltway.
Several lanes were closed while emergency crews investigated the crash and worked to clear the scene. The incident affected traffic travelling on the outer loop, with motorists urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
Maryland State Police are leading the investigation. Authorities have not yet said what caused the tractor-trailer to overturn or confirmed whether anyone was injured.
