Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae, but face competition from Aston Villa and AC Milan for the South Korea international.
Min-jae’s position at Bayern has become less secure under Vincent Kompany, with Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah currently ahead of him in the battle for regular selection.
Tottenham interest in Kim Min-jae
A report by TEAMtalk claims that Tottenham, Aston Villa and AC Milan made contact over the defender during the summer, while Juventus are also understood to retain an interest.
The 29-year-old remains contracted to Bayern until 2028. However, the Bundesliga champions are reportedly prepared to consider his departure if they can sign another defender, with a fee of about £30 million potentially enough to secure a deal next summer.
Tottenham could view Min-jae as an experienced addition to their defensive options as uncertainty continues around their campaign. His previous success at the highest level, including winning Serie A with Napoli and the Bundesliga with Bayern, has helped maintain his appeal.
A January transfer appears less likely, though, as Min-jae is reportedly settled in Munich and wants to fight for his place rather than push for an exit.
Much will depend on Bayern’s defensive plans over the coming months. If Min-jae remains outside Kompany’s preferred starting line-up, Tottenham could renew their interest, but the defender’s current willingness to stay means his future remains unresolved.
