A 25-year-old man has been accused of manslaughter after a shooting in south Phoenix left a 29-year-old man dead, police said.
Officers were called shortly after 8pm on Tuesday, 29 September, following several reports of gunfire near 24th Street and Roeser Road.
They found the victim at the scene. He was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Phoenix police initially detained several people while detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
On Thursday, investigators identified Deavantae Lowery as the person they believe fired the shot. Police said he tried to leave the area after the incident but was stopped by officers and taken into custody.
Lowery was booked into jail and is accused of manslaughter. The allegation has not been tested in court.
Police have not released the victim’s identity, and the circumstances that led to the shooting remain unclear.
