The Seattle Seahawks have faced backlash from Taylor Swift fans after appearing to reference the singer in a social media post celebrating their victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Seattle won 20-3 on Sunday night, and afterwards shared an image of white, blue and green friendship bracelets bearing charms that read “Seahawks Win”. The post was captioned “End Game”, seemingly referring to Swift’s 2017 track of the same name.
The apparent dig quickly drew criticism online, with some fans describing the Seahawks as “classless” and saying the reigning Super Bowl champions needed to “do better”.
Swift’s husband, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, was on the losing side. Kansas City remain 5-1 and top the AFC West heading into Week Eight.
Swift has been a prominent figure around the NFL since she began dating Kelce in 2023, regularly appearing during broadcasts. She also went on to the field in February 2024 after Kelce and his team won Super Bowl LVIII.
The attention surrounding the friendship bracelets also prompted comparisons with other high-profile players’ wives and partners, including actress Hailee Steinfeld, who is married to Josh Allen, and Olivia Culpo, Christian McCaffrey’s wife.
Teams frequently trade online barbs after securing a win, but the Seahawks’ post was criticised by fans who viewed it as targeting Kelce’s wife.
