Donald Trump has launched an extended rant against Bill Maher, calling the television host a “major pothead” and a “COMPLETE AND TOTAL LOSER” while discussing two dinners at the White House.
In an online post of more than 1,300 words, Trump said he had agreed to a second dinner with the Real Time host because he believed Maher used drugs. He added: “He’s got to stop, it’s very bad for his health.”
Trump claimed Maher had “invited himself to the White House” for their first meeting and had then wanted to return for a second dinner earlier this month.
However, sources cited in the account said it was Trump who invited Maher on both occasions.
The president also disputed Maher’s description of the second dinner, claiming the host had been drunk. Maher said the meal lasted four hours, while Trump insisted it had lasted no more than two and said he had a timestamp to support his version.
Trump further criticised Maher’s humour on Real Time, claiming the laughter heard from the audience was produced by a “laugh machine” rather than genuine amusement.
During the post, Trump also quoted CNN’s Harry Enten, referring to himself as “The Most Influential President of the Last Century”, before turning to praise The Apprentice as the greatest and most successful show of its time.
