Police in Round Rock, Texas, are seeking a person of interest after a 17-year-old was reportedly attacked while walking his dog in a residential neighbourhood.
The assault is believed to have happened between 9.40pm and 10pm on Saturday, 10 October, near the junction of Stone Manor Trail and Hyde Park Drive in the Homestead at Old Settlers Park area.
According to the Round Rock Police Department, the teenager told officers he was approached by an unknown man while out with his dog. Investigators believe the attack was unprovoked and that the two did not know each other.
Officers responded shortly before 10pm to the 1300 block of Stone Manor Trail. The teenager was injured during the incident, with local reports saying he suffered injuries to his knees and arms.
Police said a man was seen running in the area around the time of the assault and detectives want to speak to him as part of their investigation. Authorities have not identified him as a suspect.
He is described as being between 5ft 9in and 6ft 2in tall, with a slim build. Police said he may be Hispanic, with short hair, possibly a buzz cut, and light facial hair. He was reportedly wearing grey clothing and athletic shoes.
Residents in nearby neighbourhoods have been asked to check doorbell and security-camera footage recorded between 9.40pm and 10pm on 10 October. Police believe the assault was an isolated incident.
Anyone who recognises the person of interest, or has information or footage that could help the investigation, should contact Detective Dwayne Riley on 512-218-6619 or at griley@roundrocktexas.gov.
