A mother in Waxahachie, Texas, has been charged with two counts of capital murder after her two sons were fatally shot at a home on Thursday morning.
Ellis County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 900 block of Big Sky Drive on October 1 following an emergency call. They found two males with gunshot wounds inside the property.
Christopher Scott Pitre, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, aged 15, was taken to hospital in a serious condition but later died from his injuries. His identity has not been released.
The boys’ mother, Colleen Nichole Lemmon, 42, was also found at the address with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Investigators subsequently determined that Lemmon was responsible for shooting both victims, according to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office. She was arrested and booked into the Ellis County Jail.
Her bond was pending arraignment, and authorities have not disclosed what led to the shooting.
Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman said: “My deepest sympathies go out to the victims’ father, family members, and loved ones involved in this tragic incident. They will remain in our prayers during this difficult time.”
