Two people were injured after a boy was attacked by a group of 10 to 12 others in St Cloud, Minnesota, police said.
Officers were called to the 600 block of 15th Street South at about 4pm on 22 September after reports of the assault. The boy suffered minor injuries.
A woman who attempted to intervene was also hurt when an unidentified man struck her with a bat, according to the St Cloud Police Department. Her injuries were described as minor.
Detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigation Unit identified two St Cloud residents alleged to have taken part in the attack. Members of the Community Response Team later located both suspects and took them into custody.
The pair are being held in secure detention on felony charges connected with the assault, police said.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officers expect further arrests as they work to identify others involved. Police have not released the identity of the man accused of hitting the woman with the bat.
