A wrestler in Mexico has been arrested and charged after referee Gerardo Germán Pineda died following a piledriver during a match.
Footage appears to show Hijo de Fishman, wearing a facemask and green trousers, lifting Pineda and slamming him on to the canvas. The referee is then seen rolling on the mat, apparently in pain.
Reports say the wrestler later performed a piledriver on Pineda, who became unconscious after the move and was pronounced dead at the venue.
Hijo de Fishman was detained and handed over to prosecutors on a culpable homicide charge, a crime akin to manslaughter.
Onlooker Steph Heredia said the wrestler had argued with the official before carrying out the move. She said members of the crowd initially believed the piledriver was part of the performance.
Pineda, known in wrestling as El Búho, had worked in the sport for decades, first as a wrestler and later as a referee. He was 75.
